Katarina Wit first started skating at five. Then, her talent began to emerge and she was invited to Karl-Marx-Stadt's special school. The school where she was enrolled she met their trainer Jutta Muler. The year that Witt made her breakthrough was in 1982 when she finished 2nd at the World Championships in Copenhagen. Since then, Witt's elegance and grace have caught all the attention of people. Olympic triumph Katarina (now Witt) took home the women's Figure Skating gold medal at the Sarajevo Winter Games. She won a much closer competition after four years. In fact, she did not win the free-skating contest, but she did win gold on the basis of results during the compulsory figure and short programme. Witt became the first female repeatedly crowned winner of figure skating, following Sonja Henie. Hall of Fame Witt competed at Lillehammer Winter Games in 1994 following a career that was successful as an actor. The crowd was captivated by her, despite the fact that she only placed seventh. Witt got her induction into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame, 1995.
